Growing up, spring always sprang early (sprung early?). It started in January...with the calving season! A few weeks ago, Lily got out with Grandpa Jody to look at the calves in the barn and watch him feed his bottle calf, Ann. She's not quite a farm girl yet...she prefers to sit high up on hay bales and watch the action from there. But so do I, and I was raised on a farm. Go figure. My one farm-related goal for her, though, is to know the difference between straw and hay*. I think she's catching on.
And here's the bottle calf in action...and Grandpa's puppy, Buck, in his glory :).
*In case you are not aware, hay is greenish in color and is used for eating. Straw is yellowish in color and is used for bedding. There. Now you know.
