Happy 2nd Birthday, Mason!

You're two, birthday boy!

We love you so much and are so glad God saw fit to make you a part of our family! You still show us a pretty laid-back personality, but you're getting quite the sense of humor lately. You love to put on a show, doing somersaults, jumps, leg kicks, and some goofy bent-arm-sideways-walk. You make us laugh all the time. Especially when - usually at the dinner table - you scrunch up your eyes really tight, smile as huge as possible and ask everyone, "See me? See me now?!" And, of course, Lily is guaranteed to encourage any shenanigans you try. It must be nice to have a constant audience!

And a constant playmate. You and Lily love to play together, and usually it's enjoyable for both of you. Though lately you're starting to get a mind of your own and understand when your plans have been thwarted, a toy has not been shared, or you'd rather not get undressed/dressed again. You've really mastered the "I'm a victim!" cry. All that said, your sister is still your best pal and I'm so glad you have each other.

I love your age because you enjoy almost everything about life. You can't wait for daddy to get home so he will chase you around the house as you squeal "Come get me, daddy!" You constantly request "1-2-3" from him and ask him to hang you*. You love to be read to....Goodnight Moon and the David books are at the top of your list. And of course, the four-wheeler. Today you asked me, "Mama, wanna go ona 4-wheeler ride ona train ona fort?" I thought that sounded like a great idea :).

Another great thing about your age is that you're learning every day! Through no effort on our part, you know how to count to 15, you can sing the entire alphabet, and sing countless other songs all the time. You're not reading yet, though. We're so disappointed. HA HA HA HA!

You also love to pray. When you were about 18 months, you surprised us by requesting that we pray when we tucked you in. Just last week, you wanted to pray too. It went something like this: "Thank you a food, thank you a grandpa, thank you a grandma, thank you a tomatoes, thank you a trucks, thank you a food, thank you a Lily, thank you a food!" We will continue to pray for you, too, buddy. We ask that you would keep your keen sense of right and wrong, that you would grow into a man who loves Jesus and knows him personally, and that God would give you the wisdom you'll need to make good choices as you grow. Most of all, we're just so thankful that you're our boy!

We love you, Maser!

*To hang: to be lifted up to the floor of the loft, grab onto it, and "hang" there as long as you can before letting go and being caught by daddy. Lily holds the record at 24 seconds.
