How is it that nine years have already passed since welcoming our sweet, crazy-haired boy?
Time sure flies and I'm thankful for every moment of time we get to share with you, buddy. You're a mellow guy. You are currently passionate about baseball & snorkeling. You wax poetic and nostalgic just like your daddy. You have deep thoughts. And typical 9-year-old boy silly thoughts. You love a good knock-knock joke & try to figure out the meaning of old-fashioned sayings and then use them (well, I'll be darned). You get a little ornery sometimes...like a crabby old man! You love bird-watching. You wonder what angels do in their spare time and how many a "legion" is and if God knows every one of their names and whether you'll be able to shake Gabriel's hand when you get to heaven. And 100 other, similar, streams of thoughtful things every day. You like to know stuff. You are proud to have acquired your grandparent's set of 1985 encyclopedias and we often find you with one (or 5) spread open on the floor just soaking in the knowledge. You had your very favorite teacher this year & we know you'll miss her next year. She dubbed you "Mr. Vocabulary". You've grown even more in your writing this year and your sense of humor gave us many laughs as we perused the many papers that came home each week. You are an encourager...so much so that I think you might stretch the truth from time to time just to make me feel good! You love critters & their habitats. Today you were explaining how awesome it is to observe the "family" of bass that live under the dock...the daddy bass takes such good care of his children, you said.
Happy birthday, Mason J. We love you very, very much. May God bless you abundantly this year and may you grow in your knowledge of and love for Jesus.
